Tassie wines heading for the big island to the north

OO er aren't we just the media organisation! Yes punters we received our first official media release informing us that the previously successful wine roadshow and general wine tasting junket Tasmania Unbottled is on again. Stuart Nettlefold told us about this event when we interviewed him recently and was obviously extremely proud of its past success.

If you haven't heard of it or attended in the past Tasmania Unbottled is designed to showcase a selection of Tasmanian wine to trade reps, restaurant owners/ managers and the general public. The event takes the form of an exhibition and is staged in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

According to the media release this year's event will be the largest ever staged and will include "130 award winning and new 2009 vintage releases from over 30 ... top and emerging wine companies". The release goes on to mention some of the exhibitors and there are some absolute beauties.

If you're interested here is a complete list of exhibitors. If you go you won't find a bad wine so try the lot but if you are scared of alcohol poisoning or if you are driving at least have a go at the following:

The sparkling wines from Janz and Freycinet - can't speak for Clover Hill;

Anything from Bream Creek, Spring Vale wines, Clemens Hill and Pooley Wines;

The rose and pinot from Derwent Estate;

The FGR and dry Riesling from Frogmore Creek; and

The pinots from any of the exhibitors including those we haven't mentioned already with the exception of Pirie Estate, Roslyn Estate or Heemskirk we can't say if they are any good because we haven't tried anything from them yet.

Event Dates

Melbourne:    Tuesday 4th August, Intercontinental Melbourne Rialto

Sydney:         Tuesday 11th August, Museum of Contemporary Art
