What we have been drinking in Oct and Nov

It's been a while since we did this so here it is again (sure no one asked for it but since when has that stopped us? - Ed) - what we have been drinking. Actually it's not a bad line up. You could make a very tidy cellar out of this little lot.

The Elmslie Three Mountain view

We are fast turning into Elmslie Three Mountain View groupies. We had the 06 pinot with a meal that included nearly everything from cheese through hummus to spicy fish gumbo and it held it's great flavour and impact no matter what we threw at it. Seriously, they say pinot goes with most foods and this wine proved that in spades. We also tried their current riesling and it is fantastic so that means so far we haven't met an Elmslie we didn't like! Now if only people were like that.

The Craigow 2001 pinot

The Craigow 2001 is just a great pinot. We were fortunate to receive this as a gift (onya Jackie - Ed) which was lucky because frankly we wouldn't have been able to keep it this long if it was in our cellar.

Darlington 06 Riesling

Paul Stranan likes a bit of acid in his whites and the 06 Riesling is no exception. We think it is worth putting any Darlington riesling away for a couple of years to let the flavours come out and the acid soften just a little. Great food wine.

Iron Pot Bay Mella Chardonnay

Iron Pot Bay chardonnay was the first Tassie wine PJ ever drank and remained his favourite throughout the 90's. Great decade for Kangaroo supporters but we digress. The Mella is a very smooth chardonnay with a slight sweet highlight. We have to go and get some more.

The 2006 Winstead Pinot

Neil Snare's 06 pinot is very, very good. It got a lot of positive comments at our recent Rhite wine event and having tried it ourselves we can understand. Velvety, balanced and just plain tasty. Who's been a good boy then?
