In what is fast becoming a tradition this is where we tell
you
what we have been drinking. So you don't realise just how much
we
do drink we have trimmed the list some what (please don't judge us - Ed).

That does tend to attract attention
So here is a list of the wines we have drunk
during August so far:
06 Kilbowie
Heron's Rise Pinot.
This hard to get wine (3 bottles left in Salamanca) is a fantastic
example of Tassie pinot made using french inspired wine making
techniques. People who like pinot light and fruity may not enjoy this
as much as those of us who favour a heavier style. Smells beautiful,
and has a rich earthy taste. Not for sharing so don't ask!! The 07 is
pretty good too and more readily available.
08 Super
Tusker Sangiovese.
This wine is from Piggs Peake, one of the best wineries in the Hunter
Valley. It is also famous for getting a rude sounding but
fictitious winemaker's name into the James Halliday Wine
Companion.
Great example of a sangiovese.
06 Bailey and
Bailey Shiraz.
This is a barossa quaffer, it has a rich flavour and is very smooth. In
fact, if you have never drank shiraz this isn't a bad place to start.
These types of wines are critical if you are going to survive those
nights when the she-boss is on an 'alcohol free night' and you aren't
allowed to drink anything good on your own (the alcohol free night madness
must stop! - Ed). This wine not only tastes great but is
cheap, cheap, cheap.
05 Winstead
Reserve Pinot.
This is an absolute corker. Big mouth feel, full rich flavour and great
finish. You start to understand why the pinot nuts are out there
lurking in the shadows.
07 Two Bud
Spur Sauvignon
Blanc.
We were lucky enough to try this very savoury, smooth adult
sav
blanc recently. It has sold out but you can get the 08. Due to the acid
this sav blanc tends to keep longer than is usually the case. We think
the 08 will end up tasting as good as the 07 so if you get a bottle
don't be afraid to keep it for a year or two.
